Planning a Photo Session at J.B. Owens Park

Plan Your Family Photo Session at J.B. Owens Park in Holly Springs 💛

If you’ve ever tried to plan family photos, you know it’s not always as simple as “show up and smile.” Where should we go? Will parking be easy? And how do we keep the kids from melting down?

That’s why I love creating location guides! I’ve worked at J.B. Owens Park often, and I’ll walk you through the best spots, kid-friendly tips, and even where to grab a bite nearby—so you can relax and actually enjoy the experience.

Ready to feel fully prepared? Let’s go through the essentials step by step.

Tip #1 - Parking Is Easy (and Free!) 🚗

Good news—parking at J.B. Owens Park is free and super simple. I’ll share a little map (bottom of the page) so you know exactly where to go, but once you arrive, it’s just a short walk to our photo spots. Bonus: there’s a bathroom close by, which is always handy for families with kids.

Tip #2 - The Playground Factor 🎠

The playground sits right in front of the park entrance, so if you’ve got little ones, be ready—they’ll spot it right away! My best advice is to mention it beforehand and frame it as a fun reward: “After photos, we get playground time!” It’s a great bargaining chip that keeps kids motivated and excited.

Tip #3 - Grab a Bite Nearby

Depending on your schedule, you might want to grab food before or after your session! Eggs Up Grill is a great option for earlier sessions since they close at 2pm. If you are looking for a cool atmosphere with Mexican Cuisine TacoBar Cantina is way to go. Both are less than 5 miles from the park. It’s a fun way to turn photo day into a little family outing.

Tip #4 - A Note on Walking 👟

Most sessions at J.B. Owens don’t require much walking—especially mini sessions. But if you’ve booked a full or longer session, or if we’re chasing the best light, we may wander a little more. Just a heads up: if you’re bringing grandparents or anyone who’d prefer less walking, let me know and I’ll keep us closer to the main areas.

Closing Thoughts 💛

J.B. Owens Park is one of my favorite spots because it’s easy, family-friendly, and full of variety for photos. With parking right by the entrance, a playground to use as your secret bargaining chip, and even a bathroom close at hand, it’s a stress-free choice for families. Add in a few nearby food options, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for turning picture day into a fun outing.

To make it even easier, here’s a little map I put together with all the must-know spots marked—parking, bathrooms, the playground, and where we’ll likely be walking for photos.
